Mary Capper was a birthright Quaker. The daughter of Jasper and Anne Capper, she was born in London in 1795; she later moved to Birmingham. Elizabeth Cadbury was the wife of Richard Tapper Cadbury, employed by Mary's brother Jasper. Joel Cadbury was the son of Richard and Elizabeth, and married Caroline Warder.
